New Captain Accident Album! Good Press for Bad Press!

A welcome return from Captain Accident (Adam Parsons) with his first full length album since 2016’s Wake & Break. Bad Press is the sound of summer. Laid back. Chilled. Soulful. Nice. And after the past year and a bit this is what we all need....

It kicks off with Not The End of the World – a blissed out head nodder with a Marley-esque bass. Best Shoes picks up the pace with a tune all about going out! That is something that we all look forward to… getting spruced up, boots polished, shirt ironed with a knife edged crease and dancing the night into submission. Playing Fields was released as a track during the first lockdown and reminds us a bit of what we have all gone through. ‘You don’t know what you’ve missed til it’s gone’. Something that I hope we remember when some kind of ‘normality’ returns.

And what returns in this track is Adam’s guitar - soulful rip through the fabric of the reggae behind it. It really is an iconic sound and just one aspect that separates Captain Accident from the crowd. From that straight into Wings - a Featured This Week Track from last week - surely a single from the album. Nothing short of beautiful.

Miami Coming picks the pace right up again with a more ‘pop’ flavoured vibe. A track which is carried along by the staccato input of the rhythm guitar. And... back to a first album UB40 flavoured rhythm section for Run Rabbits Run as Adam documents how the powers that be try to control us and a cautionary tale to think for ourselves. Ride My Own Path showcases Adam’s vocal delivery style which is upbeat and makes the sunshine pour from your speakers.

Let's just take a minute to appreciate the artwork... A cracker of a piece by Rebecca Hahner - it's a little small on here to get it to not take up too much data but still so cool. Go check her stuff at https://www.facebook.com/RebeccaHahnerIllustration/

Putting Up a Fight comes in a little darker in contrast to the bright and breezy whilst Dark and Stormy is so so chill. This track is an essential lazy Sunday BBQ tune! The album finishes with 5 minutes of the great chilled reggae filled Wake Me Up where once again we are treated to an AP guitar solo. This is a superbly produced album that is just one of those satisfying beasts to listen to. Well worth the 5 year wait!

Bad Press releases 20th August - keep an eye on https://www.facebook.com/captainaccident/ for more details

Pre-order at https://ingroov.es/bad-press for iTunes, Spotify, Deezer and Tidal

Just after that - you can get to see Adam and the crew supporting The Maytals band at one of my favourite little venues in Oxford.

Hopefully we can catch Adam at a few more venues. With all the changes going on in the world it's a bit all over the place!
